Tips for Restaurants and Serving Wine

Wine tastes different in different glasses; good wine can taste "not so good" if using a particular glass fails to bring out its desirable characteristics. See Are you using "The Right Glass" for some serving tips and a brief explanation on using "The Right Glass." If you have never conducted a "Glass Test," we highly recommend doing so.

There is quite a bit of information available on the sensory side of wine enjoyment, and it is clearly established that serving wine properly (i.e. using the right glass), can help bring out the best in a wine. Using "The Right Glass" is an elegant and uncomplicated way to enhance your customers' enjoyment of not just the wine, but the entire experience of dining at your restaurant.

With all of the glass styles available, which one is "The Right Glass"? "The Right Glass" is the one that is right for you! Along with the presentation of your wine; style, size, storage, durability, and price are important considerations.

If you are serious about wine, and wine presentation, we have a suggestion for you. Serve your wines in at least 4 different glasses; one for the sweet wine and port, one for dry whites and semi-dry reds, one for robust reds, and one for "bubbly". Brandy and Cognac also deserve a separate glass to bring out their best characteristics. Our site contains a representation of the hundreds of items available.

Your customers may not fully understand why you would serve different wines in different glasses, or serve a glass only half full, (see Serving in "The Right Glass), so we prepared a table card/menu insert to help them. You may purchase cards from us, or request a copy for reprinting. Please honor our copyright by including ©Nouveau.
